General Questions:
Q - What is the minimum specification of computer I need to run Club Expert Windows?
A - Pentium 133 processor / 32 Meg Ram / 500mb hard drive / Windows 98SE/2000/XP (Not NT).
Q - I need a replacement wheelspeed sensor. How do I decide which one to order?
A . Look at the part number on the loom of the sensor you have, find this on the piXpress.com site and order it. Each component on the web.site has a description beside it - this description should confirm that you have selected the correct part.
Q - I need a replacement RPM sensor. How do I decide which one to order?
A - For a direct replacement, look at the part number on the loom of the sensor you have, find this on the piXpress.com site and order it. If you are using the older style RPM Box (2 stroke or 4 stroke) you may be able to replace it with the new HT RPM pick-up, available either with a sure seal connector or unterminated with a 3m cable. This new sensor offers simpler installation and a much improved signal quality in most situations.
Q - I need a replacement pressure sensor, How do I decide which one to order?
A - Look at the pressure range markings stamped on the side of the large nut which is on the threaded shaft on your pressure sensor, it will be 0-2, 0-7 or 0-10 bar. Order a replacement sensor of the same range on the piXpress.com site.
For a Blue style system 2 dash order a 10 Bar pressure sensor.
For a Black style system 2 dash order a 0-7 Bar pressure sensor.
Q - Should I upgrade to the Windows version of the Club Expert software?
A - Yes. The Club Expert Windows package offers all the advantages of working in the Windows environment - e.g. multiple windows (data plots, histograms, tabular reports) visible simultaneously; pull down menus, right-click mouse menus, printing to any printer; New features include the ability to log System 1 channels at up to 50Hz, when using a System 1 with a C-Dash the new software allows you to select which channels to log and which channels to only display on the C-Dash - this means you could log 6 analogue channels in the system 1 (e.g. steering, throttle, brake pressure etc) and display 4 different channels on the C-Dash (oil temp and pressure, water temp etc).

Technical Questions
System 1
Q - When returning to the pits and downloading my System 1, a message appears on the screen "no logged data".
A1 - The system 1 has not started to log, please check wheelspeed and RPM connections.
A2 - The Club Expert program may have asked you "Do you want to download this data again" this means the system has not logged anything from this last outing possibly due to lack of Wheelspeed or RPM signal inputs. Check that these two signals are working. On a System 1 this can be done by watching channels, starting the engine and turning the wheel with the wheel speed sensor on it check that both signals change as expected.
Q - When I use a System 2 temperature sensor on my System 1, channel 3 or 4, there's no reading. Why?
A - The System 2 temperature sensor needs 8 - 12 volts and these ports only can supply 5v. Power the sensor from the car battery. If you are running the System from a NiCad battery pack, you'll need to supplement the main power up to at least 8 volts.
Q - I run my System 1 from the car battery on my racecar, do I need to connect the ground ring on the 4-stroke RPM pickup? Which pin gets the ground wire on the connection loom to the logger box?
A - You don't need to connect the ring since the ground for the system is made from the car battery. The ring is typically only used for a kart application, where the system runs from its own battery. The ground wire on the connection loom to the logger box goes to RPM ground on the logger. In this case, do not connect to the chassis ground pin or you will make a ground loop.
Q - The words "VER 5" appear flashing on the mini-dash when you switch the system on.
A - The logger requires a new SETUP to be sent.
Q - The Red LED on my System 1 is permanently on.
A - This indicates that the System1 power supply is low. Is the battery charged with more than 7 volts. Are any of the sensors damaged causing the sensor supply to short to ground. Check all connections are dry and clean.

System 2
Q - The system 2 data I have just downloaded is the same data I downloaded at the track I was previously at.
A -The dash has not started to log, please check wheelspeed and RPM connections.
Q - I have the Pressure/Temperature report in the logged data from my System 2 but I can not display the graph data.
A - The relevant pressures / temperatures are not being logged under the 'Graph logging' heading in the System 2 setup, go to the 'Graph Logging' setup page and set YES to the relevant pressure / temperature channels so they are logged.
Q - I change my setup for my System 2, but it fails to Log Data, even with proper W/S and RPM. When I check the setup on the display, none of my changes are there. When I power up the System 2 the messages "error - setup lost" and then "error - data lost" are displayed
A - The internal battery is flat, and will need to be serviced.

C-Dash
Q - All my data on my C DASH was correct while driving the car but when I downloaded it the System 1 recorded strange pressure and temperature values.
A -You probably haven't set the CDASH to S1 mode (in the Configuration/options section on the C-Dash) so it can send ECM data to the System 1.
Q - My C-dash just says 'NO SIG' when I power it on.
A - This means the C-Dash is in S3 mode. In the options page on the C-Dash select either S0 for the C-Dash to operate in stand-alone mode or S1 for the C-Dash to work with a System1.
Q - My C-dash does not give me lap times, it just displays revs all the time.
A - The dash is not reading any wheelspeed and so does not enter the 'race' page. Check the wheelspeed sensor is correctly adjusted.

Wheelspeed
Q - My downloaded data says that I pitted on many laps.
A - You may have a faulty / Incorrectly adjusted wheelspeed sensor. Inspect the sure-seal connector and make sure that the pins and sockets are located properly, on a System 1 check the connections to the orange connector on the Logger box. Is the wheelspeed magnet round the correct way (Black face on magnet pointing towards the magnetic wheelspeed sensor.) Lifting or locking a wheel while cornering on the track could cause the problem, in which case a splitter box may be required. The splitter box outputs the fastest speed signal for two-wheelspeed signal input to it. This can be bought from the piXpress.com.

Beacon
Q - The number of Laps (not Pit laps) in the outing seem to be doubled.
A - This relates to a Beacon problem. Make sure the receiver is in clear view of the transmitter beside the track. Check for other beacon transmitters at the trackside, there only needs to be one transmitter in use.
Q - My beacon is giving no lap times, but when I test it in the pits it works fine.
A - The line of site may not be good enough to the track beacon or the beacon has lost range and will only work at a close distance, the beacon lens may be dirty.
Q - Is there a permanent Pi Beacon Transmitter at the track I'm racing at this weekend?
A - Pi has installed permanent Pi Beacon Transmitters at many UK race circuits, see the two links below for Single Channel beacons (used with Kart System 1 loggers) and for 10 Channel Beacons to find positions of permanent beacons

Software
Q - I have installed my DOS software but all I get is "error code 26, copy protection violated".
A - An upgrade disc has been installed instead of an installation disc , the software serial number on the upgrade disc has conflicted with the original software , please contact Pi Research.
Q - I'm using Club Expert Super (DOS software), why can't I download from my System 1 / System 2?
A1 - You must run the DOS program with the PC running in DOS mode, not just in a DOS box within Windows. To do this, when you boot the PC, press the F8 key as the PC is coming up. You will see a small menu come up - select option 6 for Safe Mode - Command Prompt only. This is only necessary when you want to talk to the box. If you just want to analyse the data you can run the program through a dos box in Windows.
A2 - Check answer A1 first, but also your PC, in particular an IBM or a Dell, may configure the infrared port as the primary serial port. To reconfigure, select START, SETTING, CONTROL PANEL, SYSTEM, DEVICE MANAGER. Look for the PORTS entries and click on the infrared ports - select Properties and check the box that disables it. You may need to reboot the PC.
