Sensors
Each of the X Sport dash kit, Delta Clubman Kart kit, Delta Clubman and Delta Lite kits is supplied with a basic set of sensors designed to get you up, running and, where appropriate, logging data. If you are new to data acquisition you may find that this set of sensors meets your requirements for several seasons but additional sensors are available for more advanced users.
These additional sensors, which can be purchased as accessories, fall into three broad categories:
- Displacement Sensors
Displacement Sensors measure movement using a potentiometer. Linear potentiometers measure movement in a straight line (such as the movement in a shock/damper unit) whereas rotary potentiometers measure radial movement, (such as in a steering column)
-
Speed Sensors
The Speed Sensor category includes RPM and wheelspeed, sensors.
RPM sensors are typically fitted to the vehicle's HT lead
Kart systems use a magnetic wheelspeed sensor (in which small high-powered magnets are fitted to the inside of the wheel rim) whereas car systems use an active system which senses wheel rotation by the passage of a ferrous object (such as a bolt head). If necessary, it is possible to monitor two wheelspeed inputs by means of two sensors and a Dual wheelspeed selector box.
Temperature and Pressure Sensors
In addition to standard oil and water temperature sensors you can use thermocouple-type sensors to measure exhaust gas temperature. These can be fitted directly to a Delta Clubman or Delta Lite logger.
Pressure sensors are available with a variety of pressure ranges, suitable for measuring fuel or engine turbo pressure up to engine oil pressure.
See the downloads page for information sheets giving technical specifications and dimensional drawings of these sensors.
